1.Who rxIndex is for
rxIndex is intended for qualified healthcare professionals — doctors, intern doctors and medical students — and for the assistants a doctor authorises to work on their behalf. It is a clinical workflow tool. It is not intended for use by patients or the general public, and it does not provide medical advice.
2.The account you create
An rxIndex account is required to use the App. To create one you give us your mobile phone number, which we verify with a one-time code sent by SMS. We store the number, the verification status of your account, and the sign-in sessions and devices linked to it.
You then build your professional profile, which we store on your account so that it prints on your prescriptions and follows you to a new device:
- Your name, degrees, designation, specialty and BMDC registration number
- Your chambers — name, address, phone number, visiting hours and consultation fees
- Your printing preferences, saved clinical templates and preferred manufacturers
- A profile photograph, if you upload one
If you ask us to verify your BMDC registration, we review the details and documents you submit and record the outcome on your account.
3.Information you enter
When you use rxIndex you enter clinical information in the course of seeing patients:
- Patient details such as name, age, sex and contact number
- Complaints, examination findings, vital signs, investigations and diagnoses
- The medicines you prescribe, with dose, timing and duration, and any advice and follow-up
- Where you use the patient queue, the entries your front desk or assistant creates for the day, including the vitals they record
This is health information about your patients, and we treat it as confidential. Section 6 explains how responsibility for it is shared between you and us.
4.Where your information is stored
rxIndex works offline first. Everything you enter is written to your own device straight away, and the App keeps working with no connection at all.
When your device is online, your account data and your prescriptions also sync to rxIndex servers, operated by TechNest. This is what lets your prescriptions survive a lost or replaced phone, lets you sign in on Windows and see the same records, and lets a pharmacy resolve a prescription by its serial number. Synced information includes your profile, chambers, settings, templates, saved prescriptions (with the patient details recorded on them), patient queue entries and prescription serial numbers.
Our servers are operated by TechNest and hosted with reputable infrastructure providers. Some of those providers, and some of the third-party services listed in section 9, operate outside Bangladesh, which means your information may be processed in another country.
An earlier version of this policy said that information never left your device. That was true of earlier releases of rxIndex, and it is no longer accurate. This section replaces it.
5.Your public profile
Verified doctors may choose to publish a public profile page at rxindex.technest.com.bd/doctors.
Your public profile is off by default. You switch it on yourself, and you can switch it off at any time from Settings.
When it is on, the page is visible to anyone on the internet and may be indexed by search engines. It shows your name, photograph, degrees, designation and specialty, your BMDC registration number, your district, a short biography if you write one, and your chambers with their addresses, visiting hours and fees. Your phone number appears only if you separately turn that on.
Turning the page off removes it from the directory. Copies already held by search engines or by people who saved the page are outside our control and may persist for a time.
No patient information is ever published on a public profile.
6.Patient information and your responsibility
You decide what patient information to enter into rxIndex. You are responsible for handling it in line with the law and your professional obligations, including obtaining any consent that may be required, and for keeping your account credentials and your device secure.
We store and transmit that information on your behalf so that the App can do its job. We do not use it for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to build profiles of patients. The clinical and legal responsibility for prescribing decisions and for patient records remains with you.
If you authorise an assistant account, that person can see and enter information in the parts of the App you have given them access to. Choose who you authorise carefully, and remove access when it is no longer needed.
7.Diagnostics, analytics and notifications
To keep the App stable and to understand which features are used, rxIndex on Android uses Google Firebase:
- Crashlytics — crash and error reports, so we can fix faults. These contain technical information about the device and the state of the App at the moment of a crash.
- Analytics — aggregate, non-identifying usage measurements, such as which screens are opened and which features are used.
- Cloud Messaging — the delivery of notifications, such as an alert that a patient has been added to your queue.
- Remote Config — operational settings we can update without shipping a new release.
These services process device and usage information. Patient information and prescription contents are never sent to them. The Windows version of rxIndex does not use them.
An earlier version of this policy said rxIndex used no analytics services. This section replaces that statement.
8.Sharing of information
We do not sell or rent your information or your patients' information.
Information leaves rxIndex only in these cases: when you print, share or send a prescription yourself; when you publish a public profile as described in section 5; where a service provider processes it on our behalf under contract, as described in section 9; and where we are required to disclose it by law.
9.Third-party services
rxIndex relies on a small number of providers to operate:
- Cloud hosting for the rxIndex servers and database
- An SMS provider, to deliver your sign-in code
- Google Firebase, for the purposes in section 7 (Android only)
- Google Play and the Microsoft Store, for distribution and updates
rxIndex does not share your information with advertising networks or data brokers.
10.How long we keep information, and how to delete it
We keep your account and the prescriptions on it for as long as your account is open, because that record is the reason the sync exists.
You can delete individual prescriptions and queue entries in the App at any time. To delete your whole account and everything held on it, write to us at the address in section 15 from the number or email registered to the account. We will action the request and confirm when it is done, unless the law requires us to keep something for longer. Uninstalling the App removes the copy on that device but does not by itself close your account.
11.Data security
Traffic between the App and our servers travels over encrypted connections, access to your account requires a verified phone number, and access to our systems is restricted to staff who need it. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keeping your own device locked and your account credentials private is an important part of protecting your patients' information.
12.Children's privacy
rxIndex is intended for healthcare professionals and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly create accounts for children. Note that the patient records you enter may relate to children — that information is patient information under section 6, and your professional obligations apply to it.
13.Your rights and choices
- View and correct your profile, chambers and settings in the App at any time
- Turn your public profile, and your published phone number, on or off yourself
- Delete prescriptions and queue entries you no longer need
- Request a copy of the information held on your account, or ask us to delete the account entirely
- Turn off notifications in your device settings
14.Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Where a change materially affects how your information is handled, we will tell you in the App.
